The Book of Joel The Book of Joel was addressed to the Southern Kingdom of Judah and was written after 722 BC.  God's sovereignty is expressed in this Book, which looks at present disasters in Judah, but it also jumps ahead to the time when the Holy Spirit was bountifully given to God's people at the time of Pentecost, and to the end of time, when the Messiah will return.
